We support the Humane Cosmetic Standard. Thousands of animals die each year in horrific cosmetic tests and companies particularly larger well known companies hide this fact by using clever wording on their products. We believe it is unnecessary to test cosmetic products on animals and support a complete ban.
Animal tests for cosmetics are not specifically required by law: companies are obliged to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of their products before being granted regulatory approval, but that can be achieved by using available approved non-animal test methods plus combinations of established ingredients for which safety data already exists.
The Hemp Company has never tested any of their products on animals nor has any ingredient used in the products been tested on Animals. We have an annual monitoring system in place to check and ensure that the suppliers we use for our ingredients comply with this criterion.
Other companies who have the rabbit and stars logo include The Body Shop, Faith Products Ltd, Safeway stores, Sainsbury’s (own label), Neal Yard’s Remedies, The CO-OP (own label), to mention a few.
Visit http://www.buav.org/gocrueltyfree/ukcompanies.html for a full list of approved companies.
Launched in 1998, The Humane Cosmetics Standard (the Standard) is the only internationally recognised scheme that enables consumers to easily identify and purchase cosmetic and toiletry products that have not been tested on animals.
